Another Successful Movie in the Park

Another impressive crowd from Kermit and the surrounding area gathered in the Kermit Community Park last night for our Movie in the Park event.  We assembled in our lawn chairs and enjoyed watching Remember the Titans on the large, outdoor screen, along with some tasty popcorn, grilled hot dogs, and ice water.

The event was co-sponsored by ABLE Families and the Town of Kermit.  The town paid half the licensing fee for the movie, as well as once again donated the use of its sound system.  Our thanks also to Save-Right Pharmacy, who again donated the use of  their popcorn machine.  My own appreciative thanks to the ABLE Families folks who stepped up last night to help set up equipment, grill hot dogs, pop popcorn, and clean up afterwards: Jenta, Kim, Emma Sue, Marlene, Sr. Pat, and also Christian Help’s Sr. Therese.

Last night’s event was one part of the Kermit Fall Festival weekend, which continues with a parade, pet show, booths, and town yard sale tomorrow.

The two Movie in the Park events that we’ve had recently have been successful enough that I’m sure we’ll do it again at least a couple of times next summer.  Someone already asked me last night what movies we’ll be showing then!
